No updates...haven't touched the truck since Sunday. Still sitting there with probably a loose wire or something. Started taking shifts down at the docks last week for some extra cash so I've been pretty busy. However I talked to Wilwood and they are sending me a set of new O-rings for free so on Saturday...before the USC game I will take the brakes off the truck and rebuild the calipers, replace the O-rings and clean up all 12 pistons. After that's done I'll figure out what's up with the wires/spark plugs and change the tune as well. Other than that...I think I might get a resonator...trucks still too loud with the cut-outs closed.
Maybe I'll have something better to tell you guys over the weekend!

Turbo-nator huh...
Well I got a few few things done today. My buddy Sean came over and after watching USC get their *** kicked
and Notre Dame winning
X2, we figured we should go downstairs and beat on the truck a little bit. So since there were two of us I didn't get any pictures but we managed to pull both front brakes off and got all 12 pistons out of the calipers at once and exactly at the same time
It sounded like an easy enough task to do at first thought but once we got into it we realized it's not easy getting 12 stuck pistons out of the calipers. For anyone trying to do this I would advise on lots of C-clamps, rags, compressed air and most importantly patience!!
Also pulled all the O-rings out of the caliper cylinders and had hoped to of gotten a new set today in the mail but unfortunately the mail-man was not nice to me so my truck is wheel-less and back up on stands till hopefully Monday at the latest when the mailman will hopefully come by and give me some love!!
Also checked all the plugs and although none were obviously out a couple were loose so I pushed them in a little bit further however I don't think that was the cause of the misfiring. I looked at a log this morning and noticed that there seems to be a dead O2 sensor
Not sure exactly what a dead O2 sensor would look like to begin with but it was showing red when I was scanning the truck w/ HPT.
Anyone know if a dead O2 would cause backfiring as well as cause the timing tables to go up and down like a roller coaster?
How do I post an HPT log on here?

I know nothing about tuning, but I can tell you this... when I was driving back from Magnaflow after my new exhaust was put on, I had to buy a new O2 sensor at the LD and they sold me the wrong one - my truck ran like complete hell (the old set up) and my check engine light was flashing, I had to limp it home at best. Got the right one in and it ran fine again... maybe you have a bad O2, or the wrong one?

Hmmm... good point!!
I remember the troubles you had when you were coming back from magnaflow. I know running an O2 sensor when not plugged in will destroy it pretty quickly, maybe with all the welding that was going on in close proximity screwed it up somehow? Good call Big D!! Good thing I have like 4 extra O2 sensors laying around!!
I will plug one in when I get her back on the ground and see what she does!

First off I thought the Mail man was your daddy???

As far as the O2 sensor issue, Yes It will cause all the Problems you described. Think of the O2 sensor like a nose. It samples the spent exahust and tells the computer how its doing as far as timing and fuel are going. Let say you pull it out.
Now The computer is like your girl freind back when you were 16 or in your case your Boy freind...
It saying Hello, am I doing it right???
The computer knows the engine is running becuase of the other sensors but It doesn't know if its running rich or lean becuase the 02 sensor is not functioning. The computer keeps trying to compensate by adjusting the timing and fuel mixture up and down....
