Glad to know I am not the only one that like to push my boundaries and try new things. I have decided I will just look like a fool to some people as I learn. I have mis-read things and done blatantly stupid stuff myself. But after I was done, I had a good laugh and learned something.
While installing my headers on the new motor in my malibu, I sat for 10 minutes trying to get the last bolt in. I couldn't get it started. I tried different bolts, took another bolt out and tried that hole. Finally I pull the header back off and tried to re-thread the hole. I couldn't get that to start either. I finally broke down, walked over to my truck, got a flash light, bent over down into the engine compartment, and found the guy I got the motor from broke a bolt off in the head. I then drilled it out and spent another 30 minutes trying to get the old broke bolt out with the only easy out I had. I gave up, and took cool down cruise to the local parts house to get stuff. I bought 2 full sets of easy-outs and went back home. With a new, one size smaller easy out, the broke bolt came out first try.
Then 15 minutes later I was trying to get the motor to start with the timing 180 out, and my battery charger litterally exploded in a ball of smoke and fire. I had to take one of the headers back out to pull the spark plug to find TDC on cyl 1. At this point, I modified the headers slightly (same spot both sides) with a good old hammer to making installing/removal easier.
All was better 10 minutes later when the beast fired to life. All the addition cranking with the timing out, did an excellent job of priming oil in an engine that had been sitting for 2 years.
To celebrate my victory, I adjusted the timing by ear, and recorded this.

2 days later, I fell on this 385 stroker, and everything is getting pulled back out. Working on our toys is so much fun, isn't it.

They warm up after a while!!

Where do I sign??

Sometimes it's fun being dumb just for the shear amusement of it!
I learned a GOOOODDDD lesson...read the Torque specs carefully!!!
It's more fun learning what not to do than it is when everything goes as planned. I'm still curious to see if my truck will start!!
Knowing me I left a wrench in the intake port or some ****!
