No bueno on the tranny install today!
Got the dowel pins from Summit today and slipped them into the bellhousing with a little tap tap tap of the hammer...

Put a little oil on them to lube them up and just a little gentle persuasion is all it took to get them in. Then I pushed the tranny all the way up against the engine annnnnddddd....Bump...Nada. Dowel pins didn't want to play nice with the engine block holes!!
Popped the dowel pins out of the tranny and tried to hammer them into the engine block and that didn't work either. Took some emery cloth and tried to thin down the dowel and that was fruitless and then took a dremel to the engine block...

Anywho, no bueno no matter what I tried.

So for Sale are two Dowel pins that won't fit **** and have been beat on and sanded down...One million dollars takes them!!

I called Andy and Vince at FLT and asked them if they knew what was going on with the different size dowel holes and they said..."Don't know, never heard of mismatched holes, but if you want we'll send you some used dowel pins for Gratis!" So I said cool-beans and they are overnighting me a pair of used dowel pins that they know should fit. If they don't fit in my stinkin engine I'm gonna pull that SOB out and really go to work on it with a dremel!!

So I moved my attention to the tranny mount, and that seemed to go smooth...for now, I'm not gonna hold my breath that for damn sure!

Vince @ FLT suggested I bolt up the tranny first to the engine and do the tranny mount last so I'm gonna go that route but with my luck I'm waiting till I move back there and notice that the tranny mount doesn't line up with the crossmember holes... That would be about par for this last week!!

I decided to turn my attention to the intake and fuel rail system thinking at least this will be a snap and go together like butter...

I got my fuel rail kit laid out and start mocking stuff up and when I go to put on my injectors I find out the freaking fuel rail mounting brackets are
I have 2.5" tall 72lb injectors and the first and last injectors won't sit flush because they hit the fuel rail brackets!

Yeah like that's not gonna leak fuel!!

Looks like they did a decent job of honing out a slot in the runner for the injectors but they didn't bother to make a groove in the bracket so the injectors can clear... How's that make any sense?

Not to mention the bolt holes in the bracket don't line up with the pre-drilled holes in the intake so of course one of the bolts doesn't quite line up straight and it stripped the threads in one of the holes. Figured since it's already screwed up might as well tighten it in and never take that bolt out again but I then find out I need to modify the brackets just to make the injectors fit. Kinda crappy quality control IMO.

Anyways, at least that's a minor problem but still don't understand the thinking behind the product they put out there. Not sure what width/girth is of stock injectors or of the edelbrock Pico injectors and there other line of injectors but it seems to me they should take into account people putting in big injectors. Oh well, another day another set-back!!

Lol, I don't get pissed or anything, just the smilies make it seem like I do. But when I get frustrated I start cutting corners and that never ends well!!

Jules, call Edelbrock. Tell em! They'll prolly take care of u, esp. since it's so new to market. They might not be aware of what problem customers are having/ not having. It'll save them aggravation, $, & you'll look like a hero. Maybe you'll get some free **** outta the deal. Or they'll send over a random hoe. Or call Richard.

If u don't like those 2 ideas, epoxy inj. to manifold.
