Project "Blown HD" my 6/8 drop/shortblock/heads/cam/blower/tranny install
#3087
some new parts for the old girl:
Since I broke the O.E. G80 my first trip to the drags way back in 05 I've been running the Detroit Locker rear end (both wheels under power all the time).......and since it's looking like this "shore duty tour" will be the one where I get to finish the build (finally) I upgraded (or downgraded) depending on how you look at it, the way I go about traction to the rear wheels:
also debating going from the 4.10's to 3.42's ....but..... that would almost certainly kill most of my track aspirations.....still on the fence there......in any case I may as well put a round of bearings and seals throughout and clean up the rear axle a bit

If you’re planning on more street duty than anything else, I feel you’re making a decent decision. The Eaton Posi can perform quite well in a rounded out nature and if you did decide to go back towards more ¼ mile action, you could always install stiffer springs in the carrier to increase the amount of lock-up if you find it’s necessary. Usually the Eaton is kinder on the street than the Detroit, especially in lighter vehicles, but weight is one thing you were not short off. Really, due to the weight of your truck, I would have figured the Detroit would have acted quite well.
