This stuff is definitely slick

This is the pressure relief valve for the oil pump. I left it in on purpose while sandblasting and applying the Cerakote mirco slick so the port it slides in wouldn't be affected. Anywho a small spot got blasted and coated on the valve since I left it in so I removed it and polished it. (I was going to polish it anyways as these valves have been known to be "sticky") The micro slick isn't fully cured yet so I thought it would polish off within a 1-3 seconds....WRONG the stuff is so slick the buffing compound and wheel can't even catch on it to remove it and I purposely tried removing it!!! The professionally applied DLC (Diamond Like Coating) on my roller lifters buffs off within 2-3 seconds without even trying!!!!

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish with that pump, but I run the same one with the big spring in it and it makes over 100 psi of oil pressure at rpm.

Just a slicker pump that has a few failsafes to prevent galling of the gears and front cover/housing. I'm positive the pressure/volume won't be affected. I'd like my pressure to be lower than 100psi though. I'll have to wait and see if what the red spring gets me then change if needed.

There are certain aspects of parts that people don't mess with because the risk is not worth the reward. Most would agree that the oil pump would be considered one of those parts. No changes you make would be worth the risk of the oil pump failing.

If it fails then it fails and the consequences are paid. If it doesn't then cool. I plan to tear the thing apart after about 5-7K miles with some 1/4, 1/8, and 1/2mile passes to see what she look like. The engine will be inspected regularly so hopefully if something is failing I'll notice it prior to it happening. It's a free world so everyone is entitled to their spin on things. No biggie

Edit: The idea for the dimples was not my idea. I stole it from the Schumann Pro Max LS oil pumps. Good enough for those then good enough for me

I wouldnt say I think the screen is pointless. If its not impeding flow in a meaningful way why get rid of it?
