Because I drive the truck a lot more on the freeway than anything else. I have a 25 min cruise to and from work everyday so it doesn't make sense to be cranking at 2600 rpm when I could be closer to 2100 or so. I like cruising with the 3.42s.

The track is closed now so I don't need the gear for the strip anymore.

Plus I really only get on it from 60+mph and the truck hauls *** at high speeds with the taller gears

You gonna do outer axle bearings and seals for the new axles?

At what speed are you looking to be turning 2100rpm?

No I am going back to 3.42. Nothing like cruising on the highway at 2000 rpm. It's quiet, smooth, nice to drive.

I drive should be 2100 rpm at around 80mph

Very true except for when it's raining and I can't close my cutouts before a 2hr drive home..... I wear ear plugs

I love everything about my 3.42s except my 0-20

Didn't get a whole lot done today but I made some progress. Got the 3.42's installed and set up. Tomorrow my wheels will be shipping and I should get my 5 lug axles in. So tomorrow night I will slide those in and button up the rear end. Then it's just a waiting game for wheels/tires and front hubs to show up.

Also I ordered 15x8 for the rear of the truck. I decided not to daily the drag radials so 15x8's will let me run a street tire on there. I'm thinking 265/70r15. Since the front tires will be 29", the 265/70 will fit nicely back there at 29.5". That is the tallest tire I could find that isn't' an off road tire.
