Gears showed up today. I'll pull the posi and old gear set out tonight and get it cleaned up. Not sure where I'll press the new bearings on at since we just sold our last press..

That is a damn good idea. Very creative! I have a set of 4.10s that have been lying around, but I'm so scared of not properly aligning everything and don't have a press. We have always taken our 12 bolts to a local gear shop for this reason, but I'm not selling the truck like I would a camaro for profit and hate to pay them $250 if I bring the rear end or $500 if I bring them the truck.

I'll just end up using the torch to heat them most likely. We used to have a bearing heat plate around the shop but that was sold with all of my other toys.

I took 30 minutes and removed the posi and pinion. Tomorrow I'll gets some brake clean and clean the housing out, and see how much time I have to work on it. This truck is going to be a freaking animal with 4.10's.

You will like the 4.10s. Somedays i miss mine but at the same time i like my 3.42s. This summer i may swap to 3.73s. Kinda a middle ground i guess.

Yea I really like the 3.42's. It is perfect for cruising and I do a lot of freeway driving to and from work. But since I will be running at the track a lot and going for some good ET's, I need the proper gear. Hopefully I get the install done by the weekend

Thought about going 4.10's in my truck but so far am liking the 3.73's. Will see how they do once truck is boosted.

What RPM are you looking to cross the line at in 3rd?

Theoretically, I hope to be crossing the line at 5800-6000rpm with a 28" tall tire. That would be a trap speed of 120 which I think is obtainable with my current set up and new gearing. Just need traction and a solid 60'. My goal for next track time is to trap around 117-120mph or so.

Then when the new fuel system and hi ram goes in, and I can turn up the boost, and I'll still have enough gear with my 30" tall tires. Plus the hi ram will like to cross the line at 6000+ rpm

New rubbers came in. Still weighting on the wheels. These radials are super soft so I'm thinking I'll be able to pull off a sub 2.00 second 60'. Should see some 11 second passes no problem at my current boost level.
