another crossmember shot

I'll get better pics next weekend. I am still waiting on the flexplate, so I just bolted the transmission up to get measurements for the driveshaft. Gonna give the shop the dimensions probably Tuesday when they open, so there's a chance I'll have it by next weekend. Slim chance, though...

That's all I've got!

Not exactly lol. I did have to elongate the holes a little bit on each side to get it to fit. But also needed to weld on a piece of angle iron because the crossmember was too long for the tranny to mount to it. You can see the modification in the 3rd pic from the top.

So even if you turned the trans crossmeber the other way it didn't fit? I guess they have different mounting spot on the frame then the 99 to 06 trucks. That sucks it didn't work out as planned.

No, turning it around would have put it miles away from the tranny mount lol. The tranny mount bolt just hit the back of the crossmember, towards the front of the truck. So it was just extended too far. At some point maybe after this is all finished, I'll get dimensions for GMT900 80e crossmember modifications. Probably about 3 inches shorter than the one I got from you.

so you are going to have a shorter front shaft and a longer back shaft vs the stock 2 peice? you know you could have made a curve to the tubing or something (round tubing vs square/rectangle tubing) to go around the canister....just saying...would have kept you from having to spend more money on a custom dshaft.

I'm also not going to wait around until the 1350 joint 2-piece shaft pops up. Not to mention the price on those is higher because it's from a Silverado SS. I did look, and the shops I called all said it would be about the same amount of money to go custom. So why not?

Cool, let's see it when you get it all together.

I picked up my 2 piece this weekend for $100, it was balanced, has brand new carrier bearing. I gave the guy $150 since he drove 2 hours one way to meet me in the middle, so technically I guess you could say it cost me $150.

Only ones I saw, even used ones, were like $400. Hard to justify that price for a used piece. It costs more than $200 for a custom driveshaft...
