I would be curious to see the difference on the Modified 10296 you have vs. one out of the box.

Does precision have any data on it?

I am looking at running the 10296 pumps in 2 motors were putting together.

No knocking you for doing it, but I spent enough that I am not skimping on a pump.

Yes, it's a melling 10296 pump that is messaged by them and has a low pressure spring in it.

From there site:
The pump is a brand new Melling 10296 Race Pump Blueprinted by PRECISION OIL PUMPS. Each pump is disassembled in groups of ten for production purposes. All passages have casting flash removed, corners radiused and polished to Increase GPM Flow. The Housings & Gears are then De-burred by a vibratory polisher to Reduce Wear and Cavitation. The Gears are then prepared and sprayed with TECH-LINE moly-coating to Reduce Friction or HP Loss. Three Critical Clearances are checked on reassembly;(1) Gear to Housing, (2) Mesh or Backlash, (3) Gear to Cover-Plate. With Ten gear sets to choose from, One pair with correct clearances will be installed. The relief-valve is De-burred with emory cloth to insure smooth operation, cleaned and is re-installed with the existing spring and new hardware. Each cover plate is also Vibratory Polished, cleaned and fastened with safety_wired aircraft bolts. All pumps are bench tested.

Thx Joseph, it actually has the HP spring in it now but I don't think I need it so I plan to run the LP one (blue spring)

I like 100% stock bottom ends. I havent had good luck with anything aftermarket in the bottom end.

I got my timing set and tracked down an old style cam retainer plate that is not recessed, my cam should be here early next week I suppose. Its hard to say, Cam motion seems to kick them out pretty fast. At least then I can degree it and basically button up the whole bottom end and front of motor.

My Timing set is a Cloyes Hex adjust, ive used these a couple times now including my current motor in truck and like them. However my new one showed up from Summit and when I opened it half of the stuff was missing, someone raided my ****. Thankfully Summit is always easy to deal with and they got me out another the next day and scheduled to pick up my messed up kit.
