I sure hope so! I'll be afraid to even try anyone at a stop light now!

That's awesome...can't wait for that and hope mine does too!

So you're saying you had your blower on with the 60, then swapped to an 80 and you're times were about the same? ...that would make me feel much better if that's the case.

Yes that is what I am saying. My 60 ft times suffered a hair but my 1/4m times improved do to the better shift extensions.
I think it all depends on the setup, but if low end is in abundance the 80 gearing is a blessing.

So we had a 70deg. day on Tuesday, took the day off work and decided to detail the truck and put a few miles on the new Trans. Something doesn't feel right, or maybe it's just me because I've never had a high performance converter...am I supposed to feel a jerk when the converter locks up?

From a dead stop - I stomp on it and it almost feels like it's slipping for a second or two then a very, very soft shift from 1 - 2, then around 97 mph I hit third and it shifts very firm and within 1 second I feel another jerk (which I think is the converter locking up). Is that normal? Also, I'm feeling jerk from what I think is a converter lockup when driving semi-normally around 2200 - 2400 rpm. So other than the hurkey jerkey feeling, everything else seems to be okay - trans. temp. is right around 150.

One other thing, and it only happened one time - Cruising on the highway, I slow down to around 45, stomp on it and I get a downshift but felt like it was slipping pretty bad as the rpms shot up to around 6k so I let off of it.

Yes your converter will feel that way, a multi disk has a strong lock up. As for the down shift, that sounds odd but hard to say without more info.

yea its hard to say without more info. The 80e is sluggish on downshifts. At that speed though depending on your tune it could have tried to go all the way down to 1st gear, which would be damn near 6000 RPM.

That all sounds somewhat normal, but exaggerated... which is kind of concerning.

Do you have HPTuners? Try brake stalling up to about 2000 RPM then letting off the brake as you matte the throttle. That should take some of the 'squish' out of the way the converter will feel off the line and give you a more solid launch.

Again this would all be easier to tell if you had a log we could look at.

If you are forcing a downshift like that for it to manual 3rd first. A 80e doesn't skip shifts on downshifts so if at highway speeds you will feel it downshift a couple times before settling.

A vid would help too. The converter lock is going to be exaggerated like that. You can tune it to lock whenever you want so it doesn't feel so weird to you. I didn't like when it would shift into 3rd or 4th and then immediately lock up. I have them spaced out some now so it feels like it is just shifting into another gear.

Same here. I hate having it lock right after shifting.
