OHH YEAHHHH ITS FUCKED UP GOOD!!!!

it bent the rod pretty sure theres a few others bent just not as bad pushed the wrist pin out and thats what gouged the cylinder wall and the crankshaft counterweight was hitting the bottom of the piston

I retract my previous statement

I'd consider another solid stock shortblock, Doctor the rings, maybe hone it to remove any glaze and go try to tear it up! in the end it would probably be cheaper and give you less headache.

Doesnt suprise me one bit with how clean piston was

Typically piston shown wasnt one that fails but pass side does lift

Do you still think it lifted a head? All the piston tops seem pretty clean. I think the last picture may be deceiving with shadows.

Compressed liquid bent rod kicked piston some busted piston and scratched wall

Over timed with stock ring gaps

Lets be real...you guys claimed 14psi to run tbose times when it took travis over 20 from not so much smaller motor

are you saying it didn't run those times? I seen it myself.

No....just assload of timing on 14 psi and this is result

Also why they have had fueling issues since then

As holes werent firing correctly

Ok give me a second to dissect this and answer one by one.

For starters Kurt's top end is far superior to what Travis was running. Travis had stock heads and a much smaller cam on a smaller engine. Kurt's AI 243 heads are hard to beat from a ported factory casting prospective and they are light years ahead of an untouched 241. He has 6* of overlap in his cam, people lose manifold pressure with less overlap than that... If you ask me the comparison of boost numbers is totally reasonable.

Second is timing. Do you feel 17* is too much, or do you think we're lying about total timing? I can show you his scan if you'd like. Unlike some shady mother ******* on here we have no reason to leave out any details about this truck or its best run. The truck would have taken more than 17* without detonation, but the benefit wasn't there.

The fueling issue you are talking about is a loss of fuel pressure. His FPR wasnt installed correctly, it wasnt properly referencing intake vac or boost pressure, and a single 400 couldn't keep up on a dead head set up. Not sure what conclusions you are drawing here but they aren't correct. After upgrading to dual pumps there was no fueling issue.

As far as having bent rods before this catastrophic failure, it is entirely possible. What are those numbers you toss around on here all the time that the earlier stock rods are good to? He was beyond those power figures...

The long and short of it is this, the engine failed simply because he left his foot in it when meth was not working. We aren't talking a split second here... it was a highway pull. Now, is it possible he saw bad detonation and all the damage including pushing water was done on this one pull? Of course. But it never pushed water prior.

Also to clarify, we arent leaving anything on the table with the D1. It was maxxed out. We were spinning it nearly as fast as travis was, but made more power with better top end parts reducing boost. the parasitic loss alone in dropping from 20 to 14PSI is enough to make a huge difference on a dyno, not to mention increased CFM.

Oh... and we had changed plugs a few weeks after his best run. They were all fine. All holes were firing properly with no signs of detonation. So there's that...
