You and I both, could be a cracked piston or the valve cover isn't breathing. But I did check the valve cover and could push air through it so don't think it is the reason.

Well finally making progress again. Got motor out, frame somewhat xleaned and degresed and trans cooler installed. Had to clean my garage floors to, they were getting a bit nasty lol. Working a ton so makes it difficult to do much. Had a transmission guy install my hd2 kit with new seals as well. Got the rest of my parts ordered, so wanting to get thone so motor can go in. Basically motor mounts and exhaust gaskets.

Anyone know who can coat headers? Not sure if I want to wrap mine or have them armour Coated.

Also picked this up locally for $280, functional ram air with heat extractors, same color and flawless. Couldn't pass it up, I actually have a brand new steel 2" cowl hood still primer black I got from a buddy for free since he messed up my bumper.

Decided to mount the knock sensors this way. I drilled and tapped the one hole for the original knock sensor, then used the more forward hole which is the grounding point for the block.

Umm why are they on the same side of the block? You really want one on each side, right now you will only see knock on bank 1

When you oull the old engine apart id be willing to bet you have a seized oil ring on that cylinder if not a damaged valve or valve seat in the head...

Good looking truck btw

Thanks man, yea truck dud use a decent amount of oil every 3000 miles, usually 2-3 quarts which even by ls standards is alot so it wouldn't surprise me.

Just curious do they have to be on different sides? I know they come like that, but you don't belive it could sense knock on the passenger side? If not I'll just tap the side where the other knock sensor was.

Also I have speed engineering long tube station, thinking about wrapping them to keep a little heat down. Being there a cheaper stainless, how do you think they would hold up? I've had cheap OBX shorties on my ls s10 wrapped for a few years and they have held up but not sure about these.
