As for pistons im debating lil johns custom wisecos built for boost. Or just some orginal forged wisecos. Ive heard good things about lil johns just dont think i need big valve reliefs if im running pretty much stock heads and cam. Heard myths true or not that it makes the pistons weaker. Could definitely use some advice on a good parts list to go with on the motor build. Any advice is appreciated

Pretty sure valve reliefs or not you'll be fine with either piston highly doubt you'll be pushing enough to have to worry about whether a forged piston with valve reliefs will be reliable or not they're made to handle some big power

Kind of figured the same thing. Never built a motor for boost so deciding on parts has me guessing.

Still undecided if I should throw a cam in while I have the motor out. And what exactly I should get done as far as heads. I don't want to get real carried away rebuilding the motor. The shop that tunes is 2.5 hours from my house and I don't see to many day off until winter time. Anyone chime in and recommend some parts from their builds?

I'd say if you think there's any chance you might decide to put a cam in later on you might as well just do it now and if you wanted to really mess with the heads just send them to Texas speed for a port job if I remember right it's 600 for their customer supplied heads ported job and have them throw a good set of springs in and you could always get new rockers or have them upgrade to the trunnions depending how much you want to do

Thanks for the reply. I think i'm going to go with a BTR stage 1 cam. As far as heads my buddies dad owns a machine shop. I'll be taking my heads and block to him he's done some work for my brother and I in the past. Hoping to tare into this soon. I've been itching to really get this truck on the road...

Still have to get the tranny and convertor installed this winter also....

Even my tuner sad he was impressed at the output. He was pushing around 14 psi to it. Kind of figured I would need to upgrade the internals sooner or later so i'm not to heart broke about it. Still undecided on the cam. Will end up ordering my pistons and rods through LJMS. debating if I should spend the money on one of his stage 1 cam kits or just scoop up an ls6 cam and springs.

Might as well spend the few hundred extra bucks and go with the btr turbo cam or have them custom grind you a cam specific to your setup should yield better results for you
