I know it's kinda vague guys, and thanks for the input. I had a 5.3 Z71 that ran a 14.1 the first time i ever raced it. It was lifted with 35's. I didn't think it was to bad. I'm just wondering if there's a better motor to start with. Does one engine have a better bottom end than the other, top end, tranny behind it, diff gearing options and so on. Basically, what will have the best aftermarket support for a good price?

wow that seems really fast for a lifted truck what was done to that 5.3? id go with a chevy but i am a chevy guy, personally i would get a rcsb 4.8 5speed i like manuals and they are just more fun to drive, i like 4.8's also they spin realy high easily but a rcsb 5.3 is a proven platform no need to do a 6.0 swap imo just do a well picked cam/head package with trans up grades (stall, shift kit, and servoes) and pray the trans holds for awhile

i dunno...i keep hearing the hemis are starting to make sick power now that the codes are released...if ya wanna be different, go with a dodge ram (maybe i'm a bit biased, oh well) but by far the chevy silverado and gmc sierra have a vastly greater aftermarket following, as you already may know. what year range are you thinking about? if you go with a gm truck, might look at getting the 4.8l with whatever trans you want, and skip the 6.0 and go for the jugular with a 7.0 as in the NNBS SS concept

Well, it sounds like gm is gonna be the way to go. I really liked my 5.3, it was easy to work on but wasn't sure about the reliability of it with the 150 shot on it. I'll probably be spraying my next truck also, it's fast, easy hp.

I'll be looking at an 03 to 07 classic probably. I'm already familiar with a lot of that kind of truck. my old truck was an 04. So you think i should get the 4.8? are the 4.8's making good numbers with moderate mods?

To bad nissan never made a Regular Cab version of the Titan w/ 5.6L V8. That would have been a sweet truck!
