Default Chevy Virgin in quest of power

Hello all I am new to the chevy seen you could say. Drive a ford f150and been looking at a 2001-2002 silverado 1500 for a project truck, also have a 1969 C2500. First off my plan is to find a 01-02 clean chevy extended cab 2wd with a 4.8 and swap a 6.0/4L80E in it, hoping 600 ponies at the crank and 500 to the wheels. With the truck I will build it for off roading, long travel suspension front and rear on 37's. Been researching for a while and just want to make sure I get all my ducks in a row for this swap, parts list-

LQ4 block
L92 Heads ported
LS6 cam with new valve springs, rockers
long tube headers with 2.5" dual exhaust
BBP tune
LS1 fan
Stage 5 4l80E trans with a 3k stall

Anything else I would need to do the swap to get the power I am looking for? I want it to be reliable as heck! The stock rear end will be getting replaced with a full floater built to take the abuse I will throw at it. 4.88 gearing at minimum.

Now I earlier mentioned I have a 1969 C2500 2wd too, my plan is to take the 4.8 motor out of the 02 and drop it in the '69 and turbo it! Goal on power is 800hp at the crank, 700hp at the wheels should net me 11's in the quarter if I have the rest of the truck setup correctly? Truck would get driven maybe 5k miles a year at best.
Parts list-

4.8 (any year better than another?)
cam (Pat G. speced cam)
turbos (like to do a single, twins if need be)
headers and exhaust
stage 5 4l60e with a 3k stall
BBP tune
efans

Looking around and researching seems like that is it for a turbo 4.8 swap?

Sorry for my first post to be so long and so many questions all over the place. Yet I would rather ask it all at once and be done than have eight different threads for the same thing, LOL. Open to suggestions and ideas!

for your 01-02 project truck, you'll need more than 600 crank horsepower to equal about 500 at the wheel especially when you consider drivetrain power loss and then the big tires you want to run.. but 500 wheel horsepower is deff doable with the 6.0l

Have you considered supercharging it? it would give you tons of low end torque to get it rollin

Awsome news to hear that I can make the power I am looking for! I have thought about it, yet class rules state for when I eventual race the truck. Motor must be N/A no power adders can be used, you are correct though I would like to have a nice low end torque from the motor. Shoot for 650 at the crank than? What parts would be needed to get me to my goals while being able to also drive it on the street from time to time.

650 at the crank would put you where you want to be, but with its gonna be hard to get that kinda power out of a N/A setup unless your looking to do a big bore/stroke setup.. also its not gonna be real street friendly. Your deff gonna need more than the ls6 cam and 2.5" exhaust.. Since your not doing FI you MIGHT be ok with 1 3/4" headers and i would run a single 3" exhaust if not something alittle bigger.

Anybody else chime in?

Hmm, that is what I was afraid of with the reliability. Could I make a true 450 to the wheels than and be reliable? Reason for the numbers is I know what the other guys have in their trucks. Yet, they try to keep it all hush hush. racing got to love it right? So if I could get a true 450whp that is reliable and streetable I would be happy! I was hoping 1-3/4" headers to a single 3" would do less to worry about!

Haha that is were I need to know, do I get one with a 4.8 or a 5.3 motor to handle what I plan to throw at it? My research is telling me a 4.8 will satisfy me just fine. Get it to run low 12's and I would be happy camper. Just do I go with a 4.8 or a 5.3? Than I can find the truck, buy it, built it, race it, abuse it, and repeat! Well looks like the 4.8 it is! Truck weight will be around 4500-5k pounds, so would need to get the little 4.8 to handle 600 horses roughly. Which boosting it with a single should to the trick. Now to get the supoorting mods to go with it.

450 to the wheels is more like it if your looking for something thats gonna be street friendly and N/A.. Witht that kinda power you'll deff get by with the 1 3/4" headers and a 3" exhaust. If your making this kinda power, its gonna be alot easier to make it in the 5.3, the extra cubes are gonna get you where you need to be since your not doing FI.

Just to clear everything up 450whp with the N/A 6.0 is going in the '02.

4.8 will be FI via turbo shooting for 500whp going in the '69.

Why not start with 1500 HD, you would have that nice rear end and 80e trans already.
Don't forget a Tru-cool Transmission Cooler

As aftermarket long travel suspension on a 1500HD is non existent.i would still have to upgrade the trans and rear end for the abuse I plan to throw at the truck. Going to run 2 trans coolers with fans.
