I bought this Tahoe June 28th. I don't have big plans for it but I can't let it stay stock for long. Thank god for torsion bars and coil sprung rear suspension!
Here she was stock.


Here is the front de-cranked. Drove it to make sure that the de-crank road just fine and had no issues. It rides just like stock so it is it's final resting place. It is around a 2 inch drop and what I was looking for.


And the proof of hod-rod for comparison.


Here is a quick test fit to make sure the cups will fit and work. The jack wouldn't go low enough to actualy sandwich the bag and cup but it got me close enough to verify the height is correct.




The rear will be dropped around 4 inches from stock to keep it level and set up on a simple load leveling valve to keep everything simple. I plan to run a small .5-1 gallon tank if they exist so that the compressor isn't taking 2 minutes to level the truck out and it should be easier then putting a compressor switch on the load leveling valve also.

In case you want to bitch that it is a Z71 and getting dropped. This will cost me around $200. Lift and tires will push over $3000-$5000. Down the road it will get lifted but it isn't in the budget right now.

 

Very nice ride custom! I would just tune it with some bolt ons and maybe just some rims and cosmetic stuff, I'ma big fan of that year model.....

 

I need to buy EFI live from Justin for "The HD" so it will get tuned as soon as I have $600 to buy EFI live. I will just have Justin email tune it for me and try to learn what I can but I am hoping by mid summer it will be tuned.

I will make a CAI probably, synthetic fluids from front to back, muffler sometime down the line, and maybe some rims. All in due time seeing as I have my other truck to finish and a million other things to buy. I am also planning on buying a ring or my own house by late fall so either way I need to save a good chunk of money. We will see how it goes.

 

You could have cranked the bars up a little and put on some 285's, but it's your truck. It only matter if you like it.

 

I work at a tire shop I would still have over $400 in tires alone. Maybe get $150 from the tires on it now if I am lucky. And still have a near stock height truck.

Like I said down the line I hope to lift it on some 37s. Till then a 2/4 bagged rear will keep me plenty happy.

I looked at a few tires. 285/70r17 my cost $160 each.

I live in northern Ohio. This Tahoe spent most of it's life in lower Michigan. I need to blast and undercoat the frame. It is all just nasty suface rust for now but it will only get worse with time.
