i had a pinion nut back off and the pinion was actually riding on the carrier. gears were perfectly fine!!! not a single chipped tooth. but my g80 had gear marks grooved into it. sold that g80 and it is still in use today as far as i know.

I have about 100 miles on the gears now and i am liking them. Everything is so much better than the 4.10s. It wants togo into boost with very little throttle now. I think the combination of the gears and converter it is gonna be alot of fun.

Glad to hear it Corey! With how my CCSB was set-up back in the day I too loved the 3.23's a lot more than the 4.10's that I had in there at one point. I think people with different set-ups garner different gains when they change gears, so it's not always the same for everyone!

Yeah i drive like a grandpa most of the time and i like the 3.42s alot. Where i live it is rather hilly and the TC still stays locked going up big hills. I got a bed full of firewood today and it drove just fine.

I ordered this for the pooper. hopefully it helps a little bit, if not it looks kinda cool. it should make changing the oil easier.

also i am going to be replacing the truetrac sometime. the current one has about 80-90k on it... it was showing some wear when i installed the gears. that will be a summer project.

Yep i put the 4.10s and truetrac in when the truck had 20k on it. It has taken a beating.

FWIW the early housings had a drain plug in them so you didn't have to pull the back cap.
