Another RCSB Console Mod
#1
I just finished my console "mod" in my 2007 RCSB Classic. It was time consuming, but realatively easy. The only part I didn't receive were the completion "plugs" on either side and toward the front of console. Those are on order from Chevrolet. I also used my own glovebox instead of loosing my build sticker. You may also notice that I removed the cig lighter and added a second accessory outlet.
I am about to list my "jumper seat console" on Ebay with my lower dash surround originally in my truck if anyone desires to remove their console in favor of a third seat.
I also have a lower dash piece (beneath steering wheel), glovebox door, heater duct, rear radio controls, Bose amp and Bose speaker that came with my console that I didn't use and will be Ebaying as well.

So you cut your lower dash part?? Looks great BTW.. I just got my console. I removed all the amp, raid things, the dub woofer box, cut a **** load of extra plastic out.. would it be possible to get a pic of in between the seats at the back of the console.. I am kinda leary about being able to see the radio hole, heat vents.. Thanks

John ... Nope, I didn't cut anything. All you need is a glovebox surround from the console's doner truck and the dash brackets (2). Don't just buy a console alone, although it looks like you already bought one. I have never seen the glovebox surround for sale and the brackets on Ebay are $75.00. Buy a console with the glovebox surround and brackets included. Also be sure it includes the "pad kit" ... there are like seven or so of them. The lower dash piece under you steering wheel does not get replaced.
As far as the radio control and vents, it is not noticable. Hang tight and I will take a quick photo. GM made some consoles without the radio controls and a shelf in its place. There are also some without vents. I only saw one like this on Ebay, but it was tan.

By the way guys ... those black trucks are gorgeous. I needed a RCSB 5.3 and they are soooo rare. They are all 6's!!! So when I found a Light Birch I had to look past the color. At least it had the charcoal interior ... I wouldn't have bought it with tan.

Ok cool man, thanks.. I had to jump on the console. I got it for a price that I could not pass up 175
The part that I need for under the dash was ruined( truck was wrecked) So I had to get what I could get.. Gm sells a aftermarket burlwood kit( like the denali's have) but specific to the silverado console..I am waiting on the trim parts to show up so it matches my dash, trim ring.. I have not been able to track down the smooth back trim part for the console. And to but it from a dealer is like getting raped with a shovel

Before

The first cut will be a little beyond the ash tray.

What you should have after the first cut.

What it looks like from the back.

Tape for the second cut, this one is going to be right against the 2 clips on the back so keep them in mind.

Now it should look like this after the second cut.

John ... I waited for one on Ebay for quite some time. All the "yards" around told me items like the console are long gone before they get the trucks. I wasn't going to go over $300 excluding shipping with ALL parts. I was just outbid on one and the bidder was in Puerto Rico and the seller didn't ship there so he sent me a "second chance offer".... I got it for $275 + $90 shipping. I will be interested to see what you end up spending on your install. I only had to pay the $4 for the color coordinated plugs for the sides from the dealer and that was with a "good guy" discount!
