Nice story. I am one of the very few that will agree with you about the carb. If I am messing with an engine I will tune a carb hands down over fuel injection. I have had several people spend numerous hours on my truck, and it runs like crap. I will agree that you will have better fuel economy with fuel injection though.

you said the technology was cool, then you proceeded to rip it all out and go old school? nothing wrong with a carb, but 99% of us stick with EFI. it's just easier and more dependable. cant believe a mag said a camed motor would outperform a boosted application.

I believe he meant carb vs Fuel Injection.

They're right though, sometimes you just need to get some help from someone who knows when it comes to new technology. I'm not afraid to ask questions when I don't know something. Especially with all of the tuning that goes with todays engines. Just part of hot rodding these days

I believe he meant FI to be fuel injected as opposed to forced induction.

I went to school at Pitt State and spent alot of time at Mo-Kan. I really hope that someday I make it back and run my truck down there for a change. I loved that track, there are alot of fast cars down there...

Sweet truck! It's cool to see something different every once in a while.

Thumbs up

I have fuel injection and its great but I like the old school carbs too. I have been 11:64 1/4 with a zex 125 shot . But again if you want to program with the EFI live system and the other things needed you are looking at $1000.00 bucks for that. Or pay 300 to 400 dollars to get somebody elses to tune it and never be able to call it your own. I love to race and I know a little about what I have. I could set here and tell you all kind of war storys but I think the set up you have is wild and would like to try it on my next project.

Good luck with the 410, hopefully you get to use this one for a while.

Well it sounds like the carb tuning is going real well for him.

My Joe Gibbs is fuel injected, and it is the one that runs like crap. Any carb engine I have ever done has always ran perfect. Started, idled, throttle response, and great power.

So 1975 was 40 years ago. No wonder I am getting gray hair.

Sorry could not resist.
