Better do a dod delete kit if you are going to cam it and do a LS2 wedge tensioner for the timing chain. You will need a 58x to 24x conversion module for it to. You will need to drill an tap the side of the block for your knock sensors.

Read my whole thread and it will be a step by step process of what is required for that motor to go in your truck. Pm if you have any questions

You might have missed it, i am carbing it, and this motor does not have the DOD, i am stuffing it in with a MSD 6012 timing controller with a edelbrock carbed intake, no EFI to worry about.

Think i ended up with a 4.8, i will check the crank number to make sure, but that makes me not want to install the Z06 cam i got, i might just sell it.

well you said 5.3 then said 08 model which is a DOD model. mobile pt.net doesnt let you zoom in on the pics. that looks like a flat valley cover to me which is a 4.8 indeed.

also i didnt know that the MSD box allowed for a 58x reluctor wheel vs the normal 24x that ive seen ran with the MSD box. thats why i said you need the conversion box to run your MSD box if it requires a 24x reluctor ring count.

There are two MSD units, the older 6010 is for 24x and the PN 6012 is for the 58x, so us retards that like carbs can do as we please, LOL.

Not all 5.3s are DOD im sure, the 2008 5.3 in my TA is non DOD with a flay valley cover.
