Probably the last time I worked in it this much was when I did the head gaskets back in the spring, worked on it as much as I could in between classes the past 2 days
I ended up having to redo the exhaust from the downpipe to the cat back, the downpipe ended up way above the from like it should without bending it basically at all so I think kyle did that which was good, it wont ever hit the frame now. But I had the redwork how the wastegate dumps into the exhaust and I added a second 4" mrbp muffler my friend took off his duramax to hopefully help the drone on the highway. I havent drove it on the highway yet but it definitely took some of the raspiness out of the exhaust.
I was rushing to get it done last night so I didnt get a chance to get any pictures.
Tomorrow im gonna test all this now, the 603 Diesel night on Friday got rained out so now they are putting it on sunday. Theyre doing a quickest 15 trucks with pro tree heads up 1/8 mile racing so if the truck is happy that day Im curious if I could get on that or not since I dont care about 4wd launching unlike Duramax guys.
Rob you should go and win it all, and since its 1/8 mile you wont get kicked out
It got cancelled on friday due to weather so it was today instead. I entered their quick 16 bracket race thing, $20 to buy in. I knew I wasnt the quickest truck there but I wasnt the last on the list either. It was only 1/8 mile since some of the trucks running would get kicked out if they ran 1/4. I got knocked out first round of eliminations though. Raced againt a common rail cummins doing 7.7s and a duramax that beat me in round 1 with a 8.5.
I wish I could launch harder cause I cant get under a 2.0 60' time, the only way I can do that is a new converter right?
Yea the converter will help you big time. You can also tweak the tune to bring in more timing off the line with a looser converter.
There are def some fast diesels that I'm sure showed up. I would have done OK, but I dont know if I would have taken the crown. I'm sure there were some 10 second trucks. As it sits with a clean pass my 1/8 mile tells me I should be able to run 10.90's.

Steve T won. The guy with the black 4 door duramax that cruises your hood.
yeah I got a stock converter still. Im hesitant to put in a higher stall cause I tow and plow accasionally. I know I have read about converters flashing, which is when it goes above it rated stall right? Cause I can get my stock one to about 2500 rpm when launching in 4wd, lets say I get a 2600, will it only go to 2600 or could I push it more I wonder?
Steve t was running 6.60s I heard and the other guy alex luduc with a duramax ran a 6.40. Steve won the bracket racing though cause alex read lighted
Quickest time for the quarter was alex with a 10.0, steve with a 10.6 and a duramax from maine with a 11.6
I wish I saw these runs I had to leave at 3 cause my girlfriend had stuff to do later that day, I just read about it on the facebook group
Something else I remembered about my runs, it shifted slower than usual it seemed like. We spent alot of time idling and my fans are still on with the key so it was just pulling air through the trans cooler constantly. The trans temp was around 120 I think could that be why it shifted slow? it was just the 1-2 shift
