Yup wrenched on the truck most of yesterday afternoon
Injectors went in no problem even used the stock clips that hold the injectors to the rails. I made spacers out of 3/8 steel tubing and cut all of them to .70 inches. I put the heavy spring in the wastegate like Don suggested.
Truck ran kinda funny at first but the computer was just getting used to the new injectors now it runs pretty decent. Took for a cruise around the neighborhood and it drives pretty good, the AFs still bounce between 14 and 16 pretty good. So Ive got to wait now for opening in Dons schedule for him to tweak the tune for the new injectors and more boost. They are pretty booked right now he said
I also shortened the BOV spring this week and now that works like it should, before it didnt open at all and the turbo barked like a 12 valve
So right now mechanically the truck's good the computer just needs to be tweaked
Meanwhile now Im starting to get the truck to how I want it to look, its got the nnbs style towing mirrors, smoked led cab lights, I just finshed painting my backrack yesterday and Ive got a set 3' whips to put on that. Once the salts all gone up here Im gonna get some new procomp rims for it too

yeah I know how that feels been waiting for the machine shop to get my lq4 block for my 04 done and waiting to have my 87 tuned on the 11th just feel like every things at a stand still for me........

So yeah still waiting....
But I was moving the truck around yesterday and I took a quick idle vid. It runs rougher than it should cause its still tuned for the smartfire injectors not the dekas but it sounds sooo good

Ok so I has BIG PROBLEM
So I went to take the truck to work yesterday, started it up and something didnt sound quite right, like something in the valvetrain
Now how the truck currently is a tune that was done with the smartfire injectors and the medium spring which only got it to 7 psi. Now the truck has the dekas and the heavy spring which Ive gotten up to 13 just rolling into the throttle, Ive never WOT it, and this is not for for a long amount of time just a quick little bit that pushes you into the seat, probably never got over 4000 rpm if that. The A/F comes down like it should to low 11s high 10s. Ive driven the truck maybe 6 times now.
So I took the valve cover off and everything looked fine, no broken valvesprings or anything. One of the head bolts looked funny, the one 2nd most to the rear. There is a 1/4 inch gap between the bolt and the head! the next one is not as bad but is not touching the head, and the next one I cant tell. These are the center ones so I can reach my finger around and feel under them.
So these are factory GM bolts straight from the dealer and I did the torque squence as to LS1techs head swap instructions.
The bolts that are outside of the head still have the marker marks on them and they are all lined up nice and straight still, the oil washed away the marks on the other ones.
So I know these are torque to yeild bolts so I cant reuse them but what can I do now? I mean worst case Ive got to take the head off again but if I dont have to I dont want to
The oil looks perfectly normal, no milkyness. The truck doesnt smoke or burn coolant at all. I think what might have saved me is that I got the heads resurfaced
I have yet to check the drivers side at all
But yeah Im kinda freaking out here
I dont have date for the retune yet so that doesnt matter but Im just so lucky I didnt lift the head or blow the gasket as far as I know.
I mean what Id like to hear is buy new bolts that are inside the valve cover and call it a day but I dont know....
And I mean it wont be the end of the world if I have to take the heads off just a big PITA, if I do I think ill go with LS9 gaskets and you cant do head studs while the engine is in the truck can you?
Thanks for any help
