Things I always see in dyno threads

1: You dynoed in the wrong gear that's why your number is off.
2: That particular brand dyno always read off
3: Go to the track and see what it does that's all that matters

Might as well skip to #3

You missed the most important one.

A dyno is a TOONING TOOL. That is all.

that's all true. a dyno with a garbage correction factor can give you whatever number you want.

i also dynoed Penny twice - both times in 3rd gear to preclude excessive stock driveshaft rpm. if i remember correctly, it'll just show a little higher low-mid torque than a pull in 1:1 (4th) because of mechanical advantage, science, & math things.

as for dyno types, a roller don't care what you throw on it, but if it's one of them portable, remove-the-rear-wheels-and-bolt-to-the-hubs type, then maybe he just ain't got any hub adapters for your truck. that happened to me in Valdosta: a dyno run was included in the weekend fee, but since it was actually a Camaro event that i got to attend, i got gypped on the dyno part because he only had camaro/corvette hubs.

I agree completely, I'd love to tune spark on a dyno one day but I don't want it to be a rushed experience.

Yep even my "Built" drive shaft I don't want to over spin, the hub dynos are cool but they always look sketchy to me. I went to a couple of Rapid Diesel dyno days back in the day and I remember an old roommate had a Procharged 4.0 Tacoma and was devastated that even with "Stage 7" parts it didn't break the 400whp mark.

They do some wild stuff in those trucks to try and make power, he had a 7th injector I believe just after the throttle body that just dumped fuel in to the manifold, pretty sketch.

yeah, that is their "tuning solution" Underdog Racing? Its pretty meh tbh

The non-Lotus 2GR's do basically the same thing. The whole world has cracked OE ecu's or goes aftermarket. But not Toyota bois "jus ad a gotdang one dem sevenph inhector thangs"

Glad I decided to buy a real truck in that respect

yeah... pretty sure LS guys do that ALL the freakin' time.

I genuinely find meth to be sketchy which is why I don’t fuhq wit dat, there’s just better solutions to fueling IMO.

URD makes some nice stuff like their short throw shifter which just changes the pivot point instead of the entire shifter and keeps the factory vibration damper which helps a ton. There’s just not much you can do to engines with nearly no power potential.

I thought most Toyota ECUs couldn't be tuned? I don't know my *** from my elbow when it comes to Toyota tuning capability though.
