I say rework the 862's and toss in a 224/228 with some good dual springs and dump the ******* clutch right out the gate.

My buddy installed this exact cam from Jegs. Part Number: 555-200582 Basic LQ9 rebuild with 241 CNC heads. Now has my BTR dual springs with Titanium retainers(these were for my build)and a fresh valve job. Has a decent chop at idle. Nothing to annoying for me. Idles around 750 ish.

Thats good to know. That cam is very close to the 224/228 so I'm thinking of leaning even closer to that.

i figured the thicker LS9 gasket would work decent to slightly limit the 799s' compression bump. if sticking with 862s, i'd say stick with a slightly thinner one.
I guess I need to figure out the comp difference between the ls9 and the factory LQ9 gaskets but I did already order the gaskets and head bolts so ill probably stick with the LS9 which is fine I'd love a little boost one day. I actually did go back and see what cam you had in the 5.3 and I figure the displacement difference should correlate well to the extra duration. Making the 224/228 a decent daily cam in a 6.0, It was easy to drive the short time I had it in the RCSB.

I think that's the plan so far. Going by the machine shop after work to see what their timeline is on working the 862s. If its gonna be more than a few weeks (preferably by mid next week) I will pick up the PRCs while I'm there.

I hope Joe gets pardoned or released sometime soon.

Which valve? Intake, exhaust or both?
