Im at .004'' with the low expansion Mahle's, they recommend .003''. Plan was to try it tight to see what I can get away with, but with this screwed up economy I don't have the funds to experiment right now. I think we are better off a little on the loose side rather than tight, especially if towing with boost. Rather only make it 7,000 miles than 7.

Yea, I agree better loose than sorry. Speaking of, why didn't you go with a 2618 piston?

Because the 2618 alloy grows more. I wanted a piston that is light, and tight, it gets cold hear in Co. I had planned on running the tight .003'' clearance, but since the money tree is drying up I chickend out. Another reason an alloy that grows a lot will just keep growing if you get in a situation. I figure if the stock cast pistons can take 700+RWHP the 4032 should be good for 1000

You will find that GM on the LS7 motors runs about .001 in wall clearance. ITs crazy.

Thats also why a Mahle piston requires less as well, it does not grow like a Diamond or others.

Actually it's .0032~.0035'' with the coating. I measured a piston today. I had been going off Mahles built in clearance of .003'' @ 4.030''. They were a little off on there built in clearance.
