Those must be harmonic canceling gashes in the cam, keep the springs from resonating.

Cam is actually going to clean up the gashes arn't too bad where the roller rides. As long as there are no high spots a few gashes, or pits won't effect a roller. Im actually going to run this cam in a 5.7L Ls1 experiment. Wouldn't use it in a engine I was building for someone or selling ,but I will run it in my own.

a little update, I ordered my cam today, HUGE thanks goes to Richard at WCCH. It' should be here by the end of the week. I have the the house to myself from the 16 to the 23 so I plan to have this thing running by then......
