2500HD 6.0 N/A "1 day" build
#12
Factory 4.10's, 3rd gear pull.
Did warn me that the driveshaft might let go, but I didn't see why that would be a problem??? Either way, it didn't let go. I didn't want to give up any low end on this cam, and honestly its the smallest cam I've ever put in an engine that I was trying to make power with.
I usually build camaro/mustang/under 3500lb combinations- I'm used to a driveline loss of 14-18% typically. Since it was brought up, and I hadn't thought too much about it, just how bad is the 4L80E?
I do plan on getting a multi-disc lockup from Precision Industries with a higher stall than stock, but im sure that won't pick up much power.
The thing is, I have built other 6.0's with similar parts that made 540-570hp on the engine dyno, (with cams that had about 10-12 degrees more on it than this one does) so I honestly expected to see close to a 400rwhp+ number out of the gate.... But those aren't 100K mile motors either- If I had to chalk it up to anything, I'd think the rings just aren't what they used to be, OR that damn trans sure does suck up alot of power- That, and those 32" tires.
I guess at the end of the day, im under 4 grand into it, and it sure is alot more fun to drive than it was.

Tuner did say something about the maf not showing the usual "count" or something like that-
Said "usually around 99 or 98, and yours hung around 90/91"
I'll ask him monday what it was he was talking about.
Funny thing is, I tested my battery at O'reilly yesterday and it was junked. Warrantied it out for free, but I don't think that had anything to do with it. Who knows.

Dyno sheet posted above. Tuner's printer apparently blows, but its not like I keep these things anyway.
A/F is 12.7 according to the sheet. I wrote the RPM under the graph- the top in blue is the run after tuning, the green one thats all crazy was before he tuned it (why you'd even bother to print that, I have no idea) but there it is.
