good luck with any manual swap. that generation truck didn't have a manual option. i give you props if you do it and succeed. it would be the first in that generation trucks to be done
very nice! sometimes i wish i had the luxury of a light weight single cab or even a 4th gen with a t56 just for the fun of banging through the gears... I think a couple people have already tried fully built t56's in heavy *** ext cabs and the results werent pretty...just too much weight for the trans to handle.

I want to do a manual conversion to my 07 burb 2wd this winter. T56 is a no-go, eh? I don't want to do a body lift for the nv4500 or the zf s6-650. I plan on keepin the factory center console if possible and have the shifter come through where the cupholder is. Could it work to make a floor cutout and hide it under the console?

I googled t56 upgrade and I looks like I can build it to handle more power or weight than a burb with a stock or eventually built 5.3 could throw at it, but I understand you get what you pay for too. Maybe I could find a good deal on a built unit from the ls1 guys. It looks like the computer mods are pretty easy for the older trucks, but any thoughts on my traction control? Is that even hooked up to the tranny at all?
I'm also planning on a 14 bolt swap, initially with factory 4.10. What kind of gear will I need though? Would a 4.10 or 4.56 put me close to factory performance, maybe a 4.88 for a performance feel? Currently stock 3.73.
Side note: How do I do quotes in the nice neat boxes? My previous post was funny-lookin.
Thanks guys.

Oh and you can get the neat boxes by hitting the 'quote' in the post you are responding to instead of reply.

Thanks. Yea, 4.88 does seem low but I guess it makes sense. I had 4.10's in a wrangler with 32" tires, but I think first was a lot lower, and with a strong headwind, 5th gear wasn't always usable. And besides, it was just plain slow, and that's not fun.
