1991 Z71 build help - lift tires
#1
came across a 91 regular cab short bed with a bad motor. pulling the engine and putting a 350 .40 over edelbrock carb and intake, SS headers, 292 cam.. going to pull the trans have it built up and add a stall..
I'm wanting to put 38x15.50 tires on it and I am wondering if I can swing them with a 6" suspension and 3" body or should I start pricing a solid axle conversion? the truck is not being built to offroad so I'm not concerned with full suspension travel.
also what gears should I look at for this setup if I can make that tire size work?

4.56? I assume 4sp AOD trans? Check this guy out. I just googled ring and pinion calculator. The 4.56 would put your rpms around 1900ish at 70mph.
Randy's Ring & Pinion. RPM Calculator.
The closest thing I can personally compare to was my dad's last truck: a 04 dodge w/ cummins, he ran 4.10's with 35" tires and that was about right. Good for dd and towing, but again, that was with the diesel. Good luck and have fun.

i would go 5.13s with 38s. and look into full throttle suspension. they have stupid big lifts while retaining IFS
honestly i would start looking for a 14 bolt rear and dana 44 front and build a SFA suspsnsion.

I agree on the 14 bolt. I like a little overkill for some peace of mind in my drivetrain. I would go dana 60 up front even personally with a 38 and a v8.

I would do 5.13s or 5.38s for 38s.
I have 4.88s with 35s on my 89.
I dont think they still make OBS kits but I could be wrong.

And you can probably fit 38s with 6+3 but its going to be stuffed and depending on the wheel width and offset its probably going to rub.
For reference mine has 35x14.50s on 20x10s with 4.5 bs. And 9-10 inches of lift in front.
