1984 frame up build
#1
I just got a 1984 chevy s10 blazer I am pretty f'in syked about the frame is in good condition its an all life california car but the engine is limping hard. I cant even change my tranny fluid so I have to replace the engine alot sooner than planned so instead of waiting for an ls3 I am just gonna get an lq4. However this is the first time I have had to choose my own powertrain for a vehicle and I am in need of help from anyone kind enough to share it.The car is gonna be a daily driver that I can get to pass smog. So nothhing too crazy but plenty crazy in this application in my opinion haha. Is there a better choice than the 4l80e? Does anyone know where I can get a good custom driveshaft for a good price my budget on the shaft is like $400. The axle I have no idea what too choose just dont tell me a ford 9", and please let it be something that i am not going to have to cut in half and put back together prefferably if ya please.

okay so i have done some research and am down to seeing if there is anything in competition price wise and as durable as a ford 9". I hate the thaught of a ford ina chevy please give me some alternatives. anything really i mean even if it is a lil bit more price wise i can always hold out and save some more first. but durability obviously is important to me as it will be a daily driver. and as to cutting it i dont give hoot anymore just tell me what is strong i will make it fit haha. also final thaught what about a jeep axle isnt it a dana 44 right? is that about right width wise because i have heard good things about the durability.

Welcome and pics would be great! For your blazer if your on a budget for the rearend id just go get a 8.5" 10 bolt rearend unless u wanna make some serious power and plan on installing a trans brake to bust off the line at 5000, then id consider a 9".... Either way you would more than likely have to do a little fab work. Motor wise just go get ya a low milage 6.0 that has a 4l80e behind it, cut and use the original harness or buy an aftermarket one... You do realize squeezing one of these motors in a blazer requires a pretty good bit of work and some fabbing and if its a 4x4 blazer good luck lol

yo clean truck man! i havent taken any pics yet though. haha but yes it is a 4x4 for now, i do not plan on keeping that axle there haha its bein gutted to a 2 wd minitruck essentialy. just all hell fast and not focused as much on layin frame as bein as fast as i possibly can be for as little money possible. as for the 9" i think it is neccesary just because i would like to keep it in there a while you know and i mean with all the engine has to offer and not to mention if i wanna get things wet haha who knows how much hp i might have runnin through my 6 litre haha!! but the pain of a ford still remains so is there anything you know of that can handle what the 9" will handle? besides a custom drag axle haha no four digit numbers please haha. thanks for the reply
