I just got my Zex wet kit last week, Have a basically stock 08 5.3L, I have sprayed upto 100 so far, kit goes up to 125 and I am planning on trying it this weekend at the drag strip. All I have been doing is using a Diablo handlheld o adjust my timing and running 93 octane fuel, so far so good, no detonation!

Spraying 100 hp on my 01 6.0. 239,000 mi and 6 or so trips down the strip. You would be waisting your time to be worried about pistons to spray your motor. You would want to upgrade the whole rotating Assembly if you were going to pull it apart. At least I would. No sense is pulling it apart and not upgrading everything.

Forged would give you room to spray more down the road, and also have no problem with a 200+
Tuning is also a very big and most important factor
Imo it also depends on the knowledge and common sense used
Seen them go years trouble free and seen them blow due to misuse or not having proper and needed equipment
Then again, the faster you go,the higher the chances of things breaking

Spray does not hurt stock pistons, running to fat or too lean does. Research your spray and monitor you air fuel. Or spray a 150 wet kit out of the box with colder plugs and it will be fine.

what all is needed to run a safe and efficient nitrous system? also what places offer forged pistons and rods at a fairly descent price. I know that they aren't cheap so im just asking to see how i can fit these into my budget build.

As bad as I hate to say because of my luck, I sprayed 150 and 200 on my stock internal 2000 5.3 for 2 years and never had a single issue, it's in the tuning after 150 IMO, if it's dialed in right and a/f is on, its all good to spray the guts out of her and ride!

The 11sec truck in my sig was on 125, 150 and many 200 shot. Stock pistons in a 5.7 LS1. Was running it through a single NX fogger and never had a issue and pistons looked great after we torn it down.
