Question? Nitrous + Turbo
#1
I have an 03 SilveradoSS with a STS Turbo kit running 10#s of boost. Im thinking of running a 75-100 shot off the line until the boost kicks in. Ive tried high stall converters but I heard this would give me more bang for my buck off the line and would be less wear and tear on my tranny/engine.
Does anyone have any experience with this or any recommendations? Recommended kits? Thanks

No way is a 75 or a 100 shot less stressful on anything. It's about as stressful on parts as it gets. With Turbo you want load...A high stallng converter would be anti-productive as I understand it.
DO a small shot start at 35-50....take it slowly man!

Thanks, for the advice. That makes sense to me!

Good Gosh!! 100 shot with 10# boost
that should be fun!
you have more info on your truck?
im guessing a 60E?
Can you get any boost off the line? I would do Hydroboost brakes setup or a 2 step if you cant..

My truck is AWD with a recently built 60E w/stock converter still. Ive been through a tranny or 2 already. I had a high stall 2500-2800 on my last tranny but to get any boost out of it or a good launch I would have to brake stall the hell out of it. My current mods are: STS Turbo w/GT67 ATA intercooled 44# injectors, Snow meth kit, stock headers, cats removed.
Im wasnt planning to run the 75-100 shot at 10#'s of boost. I was planning to hit the NO2 of the line just until my boost kicks in. Just to make up for the lag of the line.

well here is what I did.. I had the vacuum brakes and I tried to brake stall it at the line my pedal would be to the floor and it would start pushing thru the front brakes.
So I gathered my parts and put a 50 wet shot on mine through a plate.
We have a 500' track here local. I ran a 7.9@71? 2.3 60' with just boost.
I'd brake stall it to ~1600 and it sprayed as soon as I went WOT. it dropped me down to a 7.0@80ish with a 2.0 60'.
Now with hydroboost brakes I've ran a 7.2@76 with a 2.0 60'. that's leaving the line at 4psi.
it ran a 6.85@79 1.9 60' leaving the line at 4psi spraying at WOT..
A 50 shot is a lot more that you would expect with boost.
so if you do decide to spray it, start low at 35 or so.
You have a wideband and tuning software?

Wow Now I'm wondering. I have around a 3400 stall and no nitrous and cut a 1.90 60' the other night and in the cooler weather I am getting around 3psi on the launch. It will go 5 but the light didn't drop so I had to back out. I was skeptical of the converter but now I like it. Good luck man Just start low and work your way up.
