Default Nitrous Backfire

Well tonight i figured i'd go out and take advantage of this 22 degree weather and hit a little bit of nitrous. first time i sprayed damn it ran like a raped ape and had no problems. second time i hit it i was in second gear looked down at the tac and it was at 6000 and it should shift 2>3 at 5800, thought it was kinda odd and right before i could let off i hear a big boom and a big ball of fire come out on the right side of my hood and all the thoughts come to my head, a blown motor, so as i was coasting i gave it some gas to see if it was still running and sure enough it was so i pull over everything is running just fine and i pop the hood and see the intake tube and airbox lid blown off the airbox so then i knew it just a nitrous back fire.
The thing i was wondering does the colder weather have anything to do with this in any way or am i just running to big of a shot of nitrous, right now im running a 150 wet shot

Sounds like you just smacked off the rev limiter while you were spraying, it popped when the PCM hit redline, and pulled fuel. The slow shift time helped contribute to that. Might have just blown back out the intake. Just take a look at things under the hood. Id change your oil too and check for any foreign matter also.

i set my rev limiter at 6200 and pulls fuel at 6200 also. i got a msd window switch gave to me the other day, the guy just had 3000 and 3800 on just to see if he could get it to work on his car and couldnt, the only settings that i got are 7600 to 8000 that i had on my msd ignition on my race car, what would be the best settings? 3000-5700?? i shift at 5900

yea thats were im thinkin about having it shut off aboutt 200 rpm before the shifts, also today i pulled it in one of our bays and started lookin around and it split the intake tube in half from the elbow till it gets to the rubber and the screen for the maf is melted..the 3 small wires in there are still intact,, should i get a new maf sensor?
