How hard is n20 on the motor
#1
I have a ecrb 5.3L Silverado and am thinking about n2o. which would be better a wet or dry kit. Am i going to blow the motor up with sporadic use. This is my DD and i can't have it down for very long. I know you have to pull timeing and upgrade tranny and such i am just worried about hurting the motor itself

You need a good tune regardless. I ran a 100 shot on my full bolt on and cammed 5.3 and when I pulled it for my new motor the cylinder walls were spotless and the pistons were not melted at all if the tune is right then you dont have to worry about it.

From looking at your mods I would use a wet kit because your stock injectors will be maxed out using a dry 100 shot. Using a wet kit the fuel is supplied by the fuel rail. I have read a 150 is the max safe shot for a 5.3 with stock internals but the most I have ever tried is a 125 wet. Hope this helps

run a 100 wet shot on it. get a tune from a sponsor and tell them you will be spraying nitrous. you wont have any problems with it if you do it right. i had a 125 on my 00 and i used a handheld tuner on it and it worked just fine. not a hyptertech though. i used a diablosport predator and turned the timing down with it.

Yea, there are guys that are spraying 150 shots on here with window switches (spray in a window of rpm. ex. spray from 3000-6300 right between shifts so the tranny doesnt have to take all that power through the shift) They spray A LOT and they are just fine. Im gonna have a 125 for the street and then spray a 150 shot on the track this summer.

I sprayed a 100 dry shot. I didn't use a window switch, but I had my button on a cord and let off of it during the shifts. It knocked over a second off of my ET. I tried jetting it up to roughly 125 rwhp jet, and it froze the MAF sensor due to still having the screen in and nozzle placement. BTW, this was done first with the HPPIII tuning on 87, then bumped up to the 93 tune, with 5 gallons of 100 octane unleaded in the tank. It ran strong, and I went through a few bottles. I like the DRY for small shots, as there is no fuel solenoid to fail. Also, as the bottle goes empty, the truck just slows down....no loading up or surging. I think a 100 dry is safe.

I used a 100&150 hp wet shot on my '00 Z71 there was only .15 difference in the time at the track.I had 107,000 miles on the truck,no issues with the motor or trans.(stock trans that is with a Corvette servo)and I sprayed right through the shifts.I also ran the juice with a wait4me 93 tune-always ran some octane booster with the 150hp shot.No problems what so ever with the motor or trans-now the stock G80!!!!!thats another subject we will not talk about.

I had the same experience as (BadMoFo)
Sprayed a cold fusion 100, dry jet w/ only 640psi at the bottle and knocked off 1.4 seconds (14.3-12.9).
-Stock tune as far as 'preparation for nitrous' goes.
-Stock tranny/stall
-Sprayed thru shifts
