For our GM platform trucks ....
125-175 RWHP (150-200 shot) is the tuner zone. Stock componets will hold the power with consideration for tuning and other upgrades are a must. PDM / Driveline / Motor Mods are must to maximize these settings. Expect drive line failures unless pasts are upgraded.
100-125 RWHP (120-150 shot) is the safe zone for fairly stock trucks with sub 100K on the odometer whose intention is speed. Some longevity of Stock parts will be sacrificed (G80's, 4L60E's)
75-100 RWHP (100-120 shot) is a good street setting for stock trucks with sub 100k and consideration for longevity of parts
upto 75 RWHP (under 100 shot) is a safe beginer zone to learn nitrous and get a feel for how it works will little or no adverse effects on driveline and some room for error.
Window swiches do help reduce trans wear.
Progressive Controllers help with traction.
100 rwhp or more and look towards:
1.) a converter if you want maximum shift extension and off the lien performance
2.) tires to support dramatic torque increase
3.) shift kit with transmission tuning
4.) replacement center section for G80s
5.) transmission coolers
6.) fuel system monitors / pcm tuning

250 shot spraying thru the shifts at 7300. Oh and with 120k on the engine, its still going strong. The stock tranny other than a shift kit unloaded after having the bottle on it for about 30k.

I dont necessarly think that the truck guys are "scared " to spray 150 its just that most people have the ruek of 150+ you need a new fuel pump. That is conservative as well even though Ive sene people max out their fuel pump ith a 150 shot! Hell my buddy CRAZYCUTER4.8 sprayed 225 shot 30 times probably with no problems and that was on stock pump, stock plugs(he just doesnt give a f*ck-but has changes since then). I think another reason they dont go to 150 is becuase they do the install themselves and dont want to mess with a fuel pump at that time! I have plans for 200-250 shot on the LS1(stock block) in the near future!

For the cooler weather coming, I will either pill past the 150 mark or sell my intake and n2o kit and go forced induction. I will see better times regardlees of neededing to bring a broom and dust pan to the track If I blow the 5.3, it'll just make a good excuse to get a 6.0 sooner
See my nitrous kit!
