basic nitrous q

im thinking about throwing a conservative 55 wet shot in my truck to give it a little bit more zip in case a stupid civic is pulling on me. What are complete kits costing? cost of install? cost to fill 10lb bottle? and how long will 10lb bottle last? i guess measure that in full 1/4 runs.
thanks for any help

55 shot will get oyu about 8-9 full 1/4 runs, ~40 bucks for a fill up depending upon area, basic kits will run you about 400 bucks, looking at about 3 hours to install most likely so depending upon labor rates or if you can find a buddy to do it. Where are you located?

maryland. i looked at summit and saw a zex wet kit would be about $600. are there cheaper kits around that $400 mark or am i just looking at the wrong store. i heard something about a 10 sec / 1 lb @100 shot ...is this accurate? if so i should get about 200 seconds out of a bottle?

cheap kits aren't the best always, especially when your dealing with a 3-4k motor, don't skimp on the most dangerous thing you will ever install on your engine.. go to the track and see what people run how thier setups are, definatly don't spray off the line ( some do and have a nice boom) seen 2 nitrous backfire explosions this weekend one took a full minute to put the flames out cause the fuel pump was feeding the fire..
Not trying to scare you away from nitrous but unless your willing to do a complete safe kit that will run 600-800 bucks i wouldnt even waste your time..
Need these items for sure:
1) definatly need 1 step colder iridium spark plugs
2) bottle warmer to keep n20 pressure stabilized
3) Fuel pressure safety cutoff switch
4) window switch to control when the solenoids spray.. mine is set to 2800 rpm's to redline (on standard transmissions need to have it cut the n20 before you shift)
those above are definatly needed for a tip top performing n20 setup..
don't skimp on the stuff and you'll have piece of mind that the solenoids will spray like they should, call jegs and ask their recomendations on kits but i know for certain they will steer you away from the mass quantity produced kits like NOS kits and a few others are mass produced with solenoids that will stick after time..
The good kits imo are the Nitrous Express kits & Zex..

Not trying top be a dick but....
a bottle warmer is nice but nit necessary especially with a small shot.
Window switch is nice but certanly not necessary. WOT switch will work just fine. If you are spraying 250 then a progressive switch is a must for traction.
Almost all of the noids are made by the exact same people. So one is just as likely to stick as any other. If I am not mistaken express and zex are the same make noids as NOS
Do you REALLY think that Jegs is a good source of info? Go to the someone who makes there living with N2O there are two great sponcers here that can answer your questions because they have personally set up almost anything you can imagine.

I never ran a FPSS, bottle warmer, I just had a fuel pressure gauge to keep an eye on that, and I ALWAYS sprayed out of the hole. Alot of the blown intakes is from people being retarded, too much fuel, purging through the engine, spraying below 2K etc. With a 55 shot he doesnt have anything to worry about once the tune is dialed in, fuel pressure wont be a problem and he doesnt really need a warmer either the last hit will be weak but the rest should be fine with that small shot.
