Default 8.1 n o s

8.1 yukon 2500, never thought about nos in a vehicle like this but if any motor can hold up to it, it would be an 8.1, how invloved is adding a 75-125 kit, do i have to mess with timing and ignition, or just tie it in to the trottlebody and go, your input is appriciated

I would get in tuned for the juice, take some timing off it and get some good plugs NGK TR6's or equvialent. But yea i guess you could slap it on and try it i wouldnt spray to much with out a tune. And always remeber dont spray through the shifts i made that Boo Boo once and only once.

One of the concerns many have had is the reports that 8.1L’s have weak pistons, that don’t stand up well to abuse. With a decent tune and some self control, I don’t believe you will ever see a problem. I pulled some timing for a local that is spraying a 150 shot through his and its holding up. The reason I say that like I’m surprised is this fellow does not show any self control, as he went through 4 bottles in a week and a half, during the time he should have been listening to the motor and reading plugs, instead he was spraying from every stop sign he came to. To make matters worse the truck is a manual, which really makes the truck feel like a chipped diesel, not being able to spray though the shifts. It only has about a 1500rpm window with the manual to spray, if held to the old adage of not spraying bellow 3000rpm, which luckily I at least was able to convince this person of.

thanks, id really rather stick with the oem delco plugs, but if it needs them ill get them. i planned on having a blackbear tune, does msd make something that when ths nos switch is on it makes the changes in timing and/or ignition??

i could be wrong but i think when you get yer tune,he can set it to pull timing when you press the tow haul, so you would just have to remember to turn on tow haul when spraying.

And the NGK TR6's are a really important part.

Colder plugs are a good idea. If you are running 75-100 shot you could pull a few degrees of timing or run 110 octane when you are running the juice. This is what I do and haven't had any problems after 6 runs on a 239,000 mi. motor. Keeps me at full hp when off the juice and plenty safe with spraying. Next year when I jump up to 150 and maybe 200 I will get some timing off the top.

start small and gradually work your way up. dont start with a 100 shot, you get used to the power really fast and will keep cranking it up. throw a 50 shot in there first and run a few bottles thru it.
