Both. The trans should hold up to about anything you throw at it but the 80e isn't bullit proof in stock form.
150 is considered the "limit" of a stock 8cyl. Many guys have ran 200 and a few up to 250 on a stock bottom end but it is really pushing the limits past 150.

ive decided to put a timing retard box in the truck and run a 200 shot on it. theres a local guy here thats pretty trustworthy when it comes to ls engines and he said it will take a 200 shot all day and love it. i was gonna go with another blackbear tune for it but its gonna be more of a pain in the *** putting a split tune in the truck and i havnt heard any good things about it. the retard box is the best bet. he said with that kinda shot i should be mid 13s all day. now i gotta get some weight off this beast. my general grabbers are 71 pounds a peice!

Some guys have run a 200 shot on a stock motor. I think I have seen some guys running 250 on a stock motor. Just be prepared for it to blow up. Hopefully it won't but you should have a backup plan if it doesn't handle it.

If everything is kept in check and setup properly there's no need to be "prepared" for anything to let go.
IMO, I wouldn't run anything bigger than a 100 shot without a wideband and a live custom tune, preferably logging the spray and being able to adjust for it... Spraying a 200 on anybody's mail-order tune without a wideband is asking for trouble, timing retard box or not... Much more goes into using nitrous safely at those power levels.
Start out small if you haven't messed with it much, a 100 shot would be fine, then bump it up to 150 once your tune is dialed down perfect, then if you need it start adding 25hp at a time. Your weight will have a lot to do with what you can safely do IMO and 200 would be where I draw the line on your setup. An engine ingesting nitrous on a 3000lb LS1 car can't be compared here.... Your having to overcome tons more engine load which will change the game dramatically from a tuning/setup standpoint. Plug reading is very very important and I've yet to see it mentioned here.
Do more homework and much more reading unless you just enjoy pieces of piston coming out the exhaust ports.
It can be done, yes... But there's more to it than what your being told in this thread.
