Default no0b from AL, 5.3 swap in process...

What's up. New guy here from Birmingham.

I have a '94 full size Blazer. I popped the transmission pulling my boat out of a steeeeeeep ramp last fall and finally decided just to do a full 5.3 motor/trans swap last week instead of build the trans. So in the last week I've jumped pretty far down the rabbit hole with the swap. Picked up a motor and trans, and been nickle and diming myself with all the little pieces ever since. ha

Since I'm ditching the TBI I figured I'd need to be on a forum that has lots of knowledge about LS performance and trucks, and this place seems to have a lot of that. My build thread is on another forum, so I won't clutter this one with my bs trek... but I am happy to see that this forum is a lot more active, and has a lot of good info.

I'm keeping an eye out for a square truck coil, or set, (broke one pulling the motor out) So hopefully I can find one in the classifieds in the next week or so.

Anyway, this is my beater....

And went and pulled the motor and trans, along with every accessory I could, from a 2001 'Burb this past weekend.

As I mentioned, I'm in the middle of the "parts purchasing process" at the moment and headed towards going broke. But - I have my parts spreadsheet with a price and a link to absolutely everything I might need.

Speaking of which, I need to call S&P for those oil sending unit and temp sensor adapters... Ok, back off to spending money. Just thought I'd post in here and say "hi."

Welcome to the site! I am also doing a 5.3 swap ijnto an obs (2.5 years into it at this point). Man did it $now ball! It should be a blast to drive though! Good luck, I can try to help with questions you may help. I am a member here and on ls1truck, same name, just send me a PM pointing me to your question in a thread. I rather answer questions in threads where others can search and find the answer rather than PM the answer and have it hidden.

Thanks Jeebalow - I'm 'ibelonginprison' on ls1truck (performancetrucks wouldn't accept that as a screen name... *shrug* lol) That's where my build thread is, since it's a pretty specific forum for that type of thing.
I don't think I have any questions yet. The only major thing I haven't ordered yet is the wire harness. Meant to call PSI today and get it on the way, but didn't have a chance. It was between them or Speartech because Current Perf. had a 6-8 week wait for a harness. O.o And I better be done by May - cause it's boat season now and I need to be on the water, not screwing around with fuel line fittings. haha
I decided on PSI because they have a good reputation, and I don't need something as pretty as what Speartech turns out. I just need it to plug up, and work.

ezdaar - for the record, neither of those guys are me. Although I can't say that I looked spotless when it was all said and done. But at least I didn't end up with tranny fluid in my hair, like usual. Somehow, that sh*t always ends up in my hair.

No problem man, I reworked the stock 01 harness using info from lt1swap. It wasn't too bad. You could get it done in a day. He has a step by step on there on how to do it.

I learned a long time ago that wire harnesses take patience, concentration, and the ability to follow instructions.

I lack all of that.
If I did my own harness, I'd end up burning my garage down. So I'll stick to things I'm good at and buy the rest. Lol
