Default A newbie with a 2007 4.3 looking for some tips

I got a 2007 Silverado with a 4.3 liter, I bought it for the Gas milage because I was sick of dumping mony in the tank on my 1989 5.7 liter.

I've got the audio/video sytem where I want it, nice paint and 20" wheels on it. Just want to adjust the chip on it and get even more MPG. I've got a HyperTech power programmer III for it, "for sale on Ebay as of tonight" but you just can't tweak everything you need to tweek with it. You know like fuel ratio's CO2 sensor's, cool stuff like that.

A buddy of mine has the system to do all that, but I'm looking for some tips on what I should tweek to get the best MPG.

Will the new 4.3 get better fuel economy than the 350TBI? Reason I ask is because my dad gets 22mpg out of his 1993 ECSB 4x4 with 380k on the clock and the original spark plugs - and he is looking at getting a new truck.

I just got this truck less than two weeks ago, so I don't know yet. I know the guy that had it before me used the HyperTech Programmer and made alot of adjustments to it. Of course I wanted to start a base line so I put it back to defaults with the exception of the 20" wheels and 4.11 gears. Since then "last Saturday" I've noticed the gas gadge drop a lot quicker than it did before I put the factory setting back in it.

For instance I got a full tank of gas when I bought the truck, I put 120 miles on it and only put 5.54 gallons back in to fill it up"thats almost 22MPG. Since last Saturday I've put 200 miles on it and I'm already just less than half a tank.

No BS- the only thing that has been done to the truck is a rebuilt tranny and a few water pumps. He bought it new and the spark plugs have absolutely never been changed.
