Default new punk kid from chicago.

that's my truck. i'm jake, and my truck is stock aside from a CCM leveling kit. looking around this site, i want to lower it, and make it fast, but we'll see what happens in the summer when i'm working and have some money. for now i'm just doing intake/exhaust/blackbear tune.

oh yeah, is it worth it to dump money into a 4.8? or is it a lost cause?

Welcome to PT.net Jake.

Most will tell you to swap a 6.0 but i prefer to work with what I have There are a few hot 4.8s around here.

welcome.. im not 100% positive but most of the stuff you can bolt on or change in the 4.8 can be moved over to a 5.3 or 6.0 if you find that the 4.8 isnt cutting it you can just move from the 4.8 to something bigger with out changing everything again and costing you more money.. just some food for thought before you jump in and also something to think about when you get that next mod... have fun learning

do things to the 4.8 that will easily swap over to a larger v8 because usually in the end that what you will end up wanting to do. get all of the things like exhaust, intake, throttle body and all bolt ons and they will all swap over to a bigger motor.

i don't know my budget, because i don't know how much money i'll be making in the summer. i'd love to swap over to a 6.0, but i don't know how long i'll have this truck since i'm going away to college and might want something a little more economical. maybe i could just buy a beater DD and keep this, i don't know.

summer will probably mean a cam, and whatever other cool stuff i learn about on here. i don't know all that much about trucks so far, but i'm looking forward to learning.

oh and suddenurge, i'd love to meet up with you sometime at rt. 66.

Welcome to the site! There is alot of good information on this forum! And just to let you know, the 4.8,5.3, and 6.0 are all the same on the outside. They just change the bore and stroke to get the different size engines. So what ever you do to your truck you should be able to transfer to a bigger engine if you ever decide to do so.
