New to PT.NET got big plans
#1
I have a 91 GMC 1500 stepside going to do a cammed 5.3L swap when I get back from Afghanistan.
Right now it's just a 4.3L that I replaced about this time last year when the old one lost oil pressure and threw a rod out of the oil pan.
So far I've done mostly cosmetic upgrades: 454 SS mirrors, black grille to replace the chrome, smoked front lights with HID's, new tail lights, bedliner, fiberglass rollpan, tinted windows, 7" dvd/cd player.
The mechanical upgrades: K&N, injector pod spacer, cat delete, 3" flowmaster 40 series turned down before the axle, B&M stage 2 shift kit, and egr delete.
The truck is a charcoal gray color but I'm going to be getting a cowl hood and replacing the chrome bumper in the front with a paintable one. Then I'm getting the truck painted black and removing the rubber trim and emblems. I also plan on flipping the axle and 4/6 drop, and getting some chrome 20" wheels (Torque Thrust II style). I am going to keep my 700R4 for simplicity and upgrade to a higher stall torque converter (3600 rpm?) and rebuild the rear end with 3.73 gears and a limited slip unit. Nitrous will be added at some point. I want the truck to be around 450 hp, and pull 16 mpg on the highway and be good enough to drive in traffic.

Welcome to the site Scott. I am also a new member and working in improving my 1500 (03' chevy).
It sounds like you have some real good plans going dropping it, and adding 20's. I may also do that lol.. and the cowl hood with the ss mirrors you have going on sounds like a great idea
