Hey, my name is Dave. Was a technician at the local honda dealer for 7 years. Now I'm a welder at honda manufacturing. I have an 02 avy with hopefully big plans come spring. On the list is trans rebuild first(monster transmission 4l60e ss kit, 2k stall converter, upgraded cooler.), after that I want to turbo the 5.3 to get a lil more out of it.

 

Welcome. Usually some well priced turbo kits in the classifieds. Also, look into an 80e swap instead of building the 60 if you're gonna go turbo.

Sounds like you got bit by the mod bug , a turbo Avy would be sweet.

Don't waste your time or money with a monster trans , or even a 4L60e , chances are it won't last . Search here for the 4 L80E swap, this will handle the power and weight you'll be throwing at it .

Marysville. 12 min west of cbus. I was debating about looking at the 80 but I then I started having some intermittent trans flare. Also my dad has an 00 ecsb 1500. Figure change mine to an 80 in time and hold my 60 if his has probs. Lol ya I get bit hard and easy by the mod bug. This is my first time actually dealing with gm truck motors. But I have found your basics always work and the 5.3 is very much a boost happy motor, even though drive train isnt.
