Found this forum while looking up some LS swap info on LS1tech.
Current daily driver is a 2014 Silverado Crew cab 4x4 Z71. My summer toy is a 1970 Chevy C20 3/4 ton with a 396 big block and 700r4, lowered about 4" up front and 5" in the rear.
Picked up a 2001 4.8L with 4l60e trans (about 3,000 kms on trans), PCM and harness for pretty cheap.
I decided to open up the engine to have a look at it since it has about 200,000 kms on it. Seems very clean with main and rod bearings looking new. So my plan is to change oil pump (deciding on stock or upgraded pump), change timing set and valve springs. After that, headers and tune to remove VATS, egr, cats(second O2s). Possibly a cam change later on if I'm not happy with it.
This combo might be going into my 1970 Chev replacing the 396. According to the block number it's supposed to be around 240hp, not sure what, if anything has been done to the 396.
