Default New member, Need some help.

Hello,
I am a new member on here. I am trying to help a friend out with his 2004 4.8 Regency.

He is looking for a mild cam with stock motor.

I am a WRX owner and I dont have a clue about truck performance.

What cam would be best on a stock motor.

would he need to get bigger springs or will the stock springs be able to hold up. What about rods, torque converter, oil pump, etc.

it is a 4.8 with 107K miles. Automatic K&N intake with pacesetter headers and magnaflow that are dumped.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

If he just wants some lope and a little added power, something like a 212/216, or 216/220 cam will do both. Pushods, everyone here just runs 7.4 hardened rods. As far as springs, there are a ton to choose from. I like the PAC 1218s or the 1518's. Texas Speed and Performance and SDPC on the right sidebar will show you some specs and prices>>>>

I just talked to him. He would like to know if there is a cam that will work with oem springs/rods

I tried searching 'function' but it will not load on my phone.

Will a cam set up with rods/springs etc be able to be done under 1500.00 for parts.

Found this. Looking at the package 1

Would this be an ideal set up?

I am lost as far as the custom options

In the drop down menu, which would be the best parts?

Forgive me in all the questions. I am new to cams and trying to help a friend out.

When you call Texas Speed, ask for Trevor or Matt. Both helped with my build and I've been very happy with their customer support.

^^

thank you. I will be sure to do so. When I call. ( I'm doing to the research for my friend.) He wants the cam but doesn't want to do the homework.

Lady3- would you be willing to help install the parts if paid some cash, gas, etc

I have done a cam install about three years ago but I don't remember to process, plus I had the motor pulled out. Is there a good diy guide I can print out and follow?
