If asked 98% of people they'd say modding the 4.3 is a waste of time but you could still do it if you wanted too.
Yes swapping to a larger camshaft would add power, how large you can go and still be okay with fueling on those trucks I do not know. I'm not even sure how far the stock injectors would go as I've never tried to tune a stock 4.3 truck yet.
Air filter swap won't do anything.
The best bang for the buck to improve 0-80mph times would be to swap gears. If the truck has something like 3.42 gearing and you went to 4.10's that would be a big improvement and likely noticeable. The trade off is more rpm at cruising speed and possibly slight less fuel mileage.
You're going to have to do a ton of research to see what works for you and your budget. In the end you will probably only get the truck up to around a 4.8 V8 power level unless you add boost but that will cost you a ton of money.

not many cams out there for the 4.3, but i think folks said the marine intake/injectors are a decent upgrade over stock.
...but by the time you go that far (plus tune), you're most of the way to the cost of a v8 swap & not to the same power.
gears will help if a little more pep's all you want.

Thanks for the help. Now you guys got me thinking of just swapping the engine to a 4.8 and boosting from there since gas mileage is better than a 5.3 .I just wanted to make it look like a truck that looks like it has no power and then bam right at take off haha

If you're gonna do a swap why would you not do a 6.0?
Makes the most power and torque right out the gate. Adding boost and you're already a step ahead of a 4.8 or 5.3 with the same set up.
If you are really worried about fuel mileage why are you even thinking about performance upgrades? Not trying to be a dick just being completely honest with you.
