Default New from Louisiana

Hey guys and gals, Alecks here from West Monroe Louisiana, also an active member of CustomGM, hoping to learn a lot from this forum, I've always had a go-fast addiction but never the know-how to get going on my intentions. I appreciate any and all help given and any constructive criticism or suggestions! I currently DD my 2009 Silverado 1500 w/ 5.3+4L60E combo. Just a few mods performance wise, nothing special, just LPP Long Tube Headers, ORY, no muffler or cats (for now), Corvette Servo, MadTunes Racing tune, and Airaid MIT intake tube + K&N drop in filter.
This is how my truck sits now (besides the clears, still gotta get my other heads cleared)

What I'm soon hoping to purchase is a cam. The HT1 cam specifically. I'm hoping that's a cam I can keep the stock converter with. I have the Flex Fuel 5.3 so I don't know if that will affect what's needed for a cam swap or not, but I'm again hoping I can just swap the cam in with some new springs and pushrods and call it a day with a retune

Welcome.

Is your truck a DoD/AFM motor?

And is that cam a DoD cam, because if not you'll have to do the delete kit along with the cam install.

Well it doesn't have the "economy" V4 mode, but has a yellow gas cap, meaning flex fuel. Not sure how to tell if it has DoD. Praying it doesn't. Could I check something in the VIN to see?

Is your truck silver with LTZ 20s? I think I saw and heard it on Mardi Gras in Monroe! Sounded SICK!

Ah okay.

And I don't know exactly what motor I have or how to find out lol, but I know for sure it doesn't have the stupid "V4" mode for highway cruising

Just check your VIN number.

8th VIN should be the motor. Then you can search what engine it came with.

Seems odd that it doesnt say V8 mode under your "instant" fuel economy in the DIC.

Thanks!

And it's the LMG 5.3, with DoD/AFM... Never knew it had the V4 mode because it always sounds like V8 to me.. Hmm.. DoD delete kit and HT1 cam with a 3000-3200 stall it is then.
