Default The New Guy and his Hoe.

hello all,

Names Joseph, live in NY, disabled vet, I own a 2000 Tahoe 5.3L Vortec. im looking to get into the transportation business and currently modifying the Tahoe and hoping to be ready by May 2013. I ask alot of questions and try to get as much info as i can, as i do my mods i do take pics and document. Also currently enrolled in a 4 year degree for Auto Tech at the only school in NY that offers a Bachelors for Auto Tech. SUNY Morrisville.

Current mods:
1. Trick Flow TFX High Flow Cold Air intake
2. completely rebuilt front end, adjustable ball joints, idler, pitman, center link
3. sway bar kit by Hotchkis
4. Speed Daddy Headers

Future Mods:
1. Eaton Detroit Truetrac differential with 4.11 gears.
2. Pace Setter Dual exhaust
3. KYB MonoMax all the way round
4. Belltech Air suspension kit
5. Performance tune by Trifecta Performance
6. 4L80E trans or 6L80 (6 speed auto)

my crazy ideas/thoughts:
1. T56 six speed trans swap...can it be done? has it been done?
2. complete Allison/Duramax engine and trans swap into the Tahoe...call me crazy but i like it.

Welcome over! Thank you for your service

Sounds like a good build list so far.

I would recommend the 4L80E, the 6L80E might be significantly more expensive and complicated than you want to get into, unless you like the challenge.

There is a guy on here (thunder550) swapping a dmax engine and Allison trans into his 1500 regular cab short bed (RCSB for short). Thread here: https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...coming-514649/

Post up pics of your 'hoe!

thank you sir.

i do greet challenges with open arms, as i am currently building (2) thirdgen camaros 1986 IROC Z 427 swap 12 bolt moser and 1984 Sport Coupe 334 stroker 9inch ford rear end.

i will find this 550 guy and see what hes doing, i think it would be awesome to do this swap in a Tahoe.

welcome to the site. i would suggest a local tuner dyno tune your truck. trifecta is in washington and vince specializes in turbo and supercharged ecotec motors. not ls motors and he is a pain in the *** to get ahold of.

i have used Trifecta for my non turbo'd cobalt and had great results. i was going to give them another opportunity to tune my tahoe. they have a new system now and theres another shop that handles their V8 platforms. but thank you for you advice.
