Default new guy on the block

Im Hozer from southern WI. I was hoping to talk to some people with some gm trucks, I need a little cam advice.

I have an 05 silverado 1500 crew w/5.3. I put a 6 inch fabtech w/ 35's
4.56 gears, shorty headers, cold air, and programmer on it.

A friend of mine wants to sell me the heads off of his Z06. (for cheap)
I figure they would be a little upgrade but then i thought well i will cam it too, but I need some help picking out a cam and torque converter.
Please help me if you have any suggestions

Welcome to PT.net
Read a bit, there are a few threads on head swaps and cams. Most (me included) will advise tossing the programmer and getting a custom tune.

What do you want to use your truck for? Off road or street? Stick around, you'll probably change your mind

i am gonna keep the truck for street use. i put only 6 or 7,000 miles on a year but i want to keep the drivability. I don't usually haul much w/ it but a couple of four wheelers, i was going to get a custom tune after the head and cam swap.

I think the heads will lower your compression.
