Id love to drop a 5.7 crate motor in this thing.. thats what I had in the 91 chevy i had before this.. or even bigger.. the 4.8 in there right now has 118k miles on it and it seems like its been driven really hard.. i bought it at about 88k miles..

one of the local shops here builds stock cars for NAPA's Racing Team.. guy quoted me like 8k to install the biggest crate motor they had.. think it was in the neighborhood of like 740 HP or so.. not sure on the particulars.

get a 6.0 long block for 500-1000 and swap that in, all your accessories will bolt right up. its a direct swap. there are probably more than 10-20 members on here that did that exact swap.
